Which Disney Cruise Line Ship Is The Best?
Which Disney Cruise Line Ship Is The Best?
Disney Cruise Line currently has 5 ships – the Disney Magic, Disney Wonder, Disney Dream, Disney Fantasy, and, coming in Summer 2022, the Disney Wish. Two other ships are set to join the fleet in the coming years which we cannot wait to see!
Of course, what matters most about your Disney Cruise Line vacation is that you’re onboard with your family, creating memories with your loved ones, and enjoying your time off.
With that being said, so many Castaway Club members (those who have sailed on a Disney Cruise before) have a favorite. Personally, we love the Disney Magic and Disney Fantasy; however, all we care about is getting onboard because we know that all the ships have countless things in common.
What do all Disney Cruise Line ships have in common?
The service. The standard of Disney service can be described in one word: Excellent! You will receive nothing but the best in all aspects of your Disney Cruise Line vacation with a crew who is trained to take care of every need you have once onboard.
The entertainment. From Broadway-style musicals to hilarious comedians and ventriloquists; from talented musicians and singers to an engaging Cruise staff who hosts games and parties all cruise long. You will not be bored. Walt Disney made a name for himself in entertaining families around the world, and that same love of putting on a show can be found on ever Disney Cruise Line ship.
The magic. No matter which ship you step aboard, the magic of the Walt Disney Company can be found around every corner. With delicate décor with hints of your favorite characters to meeting your favorite Princesses, pixie dust covers the entire experience allowing magical memories to be made for kids and adults alike.
The food. The food found onboard the Disney Cruise Line fleet is outstandingly delicious. From quick service favorites like chicken tenders and pizza to top-tier, lavish dining experiences found in Animator’s Plate and Remy’s, you will not go hungry on a Disney cruise. You can try old favorites, new international dishes, and get your fill on endless ice cream. Mmmm…. ice cream!
What are the differences in the Disney Cruise Line ships?
Destinations. Disney Cruise Line vacations can bring you to lands near and far. Some ships visit European destinations while some focus on the Caribbean and Bahamas. Not all cruises visit Disney’s Private Island, Castaway Cay. Depending on where you live, you might want to choose a ship whose starting port of call is nearest to you. Or perhaps you might want to choose the ship whose ports of call includes places you have always wanted to visit like the Mediterranean or Alaska. Disney makes all destinations magical, but where do you want to visit?
Size. Disney Cruise Line has 3 fleet sizes. The Magic and Wonder, the original two ships, are the smallest. The Dream and Fantasy are the next largest. And the Triton class ships, including the new Disney Wish, will be the largest ships of the fleet. With more space, comes the potential for more experiences and more spaces.
Names of certain areas. While there is a great deal of overlap on names of spaces onboard all the ships, some ships have specific restaurants (Rapunzel’s Royal Table vs Tiana’s Place), bars, quick bites, pools or slides, etc. that you might want to visit.
Length of sailing. Depending on how many vacation days you have, if you want to combine the cruise with a trip to Disney World or Disneyland, or any other number of factors, you might have a certain length of vacation in mind. That will influence which ship you choose as each ship corresponds with various number of nights per itinerary.
If you’re ready to plan a Disney Cruise Line vacation, but aren’t sure which ship to choose then start by answering these questions:
How many days would I like to be on a cruise? If this is your first cruise, you might want to start with a 3-5 night sailing to get a taste of the magic of Disney Cruise Line. If you already know you love cruising, then we might recommend a longer voyage of 7+ nights to squeeze every experience, excursion, and excuse to play while onboard.

Which ports of call do you most want to visit?
Do the little ones in your party especially love any characters, movies, or stories? There is nothing like watching the joy twinkle in the eyes of a child meeting their favorite Disney characters for the first time. Certain ships have dedicated spaces that might hold a special place in your child’s (or your) heart.
At the end of the day, you cannot go wrong with any ship, any sailing, or any ports of call. What matters most is that you are spending time with your loved ones on a vacation that makes you feel cared for.
